Oude Sint-Victorkerk
Tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog werd de Sint-Victorkerk (gebouwd eind 19e eeuw) kapotgeschoten. Bij de vrede op 5 mei 1945, is vooral het middenschip en de toren een ruïne en in januari 1946 besluit het kerkbestuur definitief tot afbraak en de realisering van een nieuw kerkgebouw. In de periode van oktober 1944 tot en met mei 1954 werd de gymzaal van de gemeente als noodkerk gebruikt. In 1946 werd deze noodkerk aanmerkelijk vergroot met de aanbouw van een sacristie.

Nieuwe Sint-Victorkerk
In oktober 1949 ging pastoor Van Bakel met zijn kerkmeesters Gijs de Lorijn en Gerrit Rutten, er een paar keer op uit om nieuwe kerken te bekijken. De kerk van Volkel stond hen wel aan; besloten werd architect van Halteren uit Den Bosch op te dragen een zelfde soort kerk ook voor Wamel te ontwerpen. Bij gelegenheid van zijn zilveren priesterjubileum op 11 juni 1950, ontvangt van Bakel, als parochiegeschenk een bijzonder fraai processie-rustaltaar gemaakt door timmerman Rein van Rossum. Tegelijkertijd wordt het ontwerp voor de nieuwe kerk bekend gemaakt, compleet met een fikse toren vóór de kerk en een klein torentje op de middenbeuk. Het bisdom wil een veel soberder kerkgebouw met alleen een klokkentoren. Als compromis: geen echte toren, maar het geplande houten dakgebint wordt vervangen door een fraai stenen gewelf. Op 5 juli 1953 mocht pastoor van Bakel, onder geweldige belangstelling van zijn parochianen, de eerste steenlegging verrichten.

Al op 11 april 1954 (Palmzondag) kon de nieuwe kerk van pastoor van Bakel en kapelaan J. Merkx plechtig in gebruik worden genomen. De officiële inwijding door mgr. W.Mutsaerts was op maandag 3 mei 1954.

Old St. Victor Church
During the Second World War, the Sint-Victorkerk (built at the end of the 19th century) was shot to pieces. At the peace on May 5, 1945, especially the nave and the tower are a ruin and in January 1946 the church board finally decides to demolish and realize a new church building. In the period from October 1944 to May 1954, the municipality's gymnasium was used as an emergency church. In 1946, this temporary church was considerably enlarged with the addition of a sacristy.

New Saint Victor Church
In October 1949, Pastor Van Bakel and his church wardens Gijs de Lorijn and Gerrit Rutten went out a few times to view new churches. They liked the Volkel church; it was decided to commission architect van Halteren from Den Bosch to design a similar church for Wamel as well. On the occasion of his silver priestly jubilee on June 11, 1950, Van Bakel receives as a parish gift a particularly beautiful processional resting altar made by carpenter Rein van Rossum. At the same time, the design for the new church will be announced, complete with a hefty tower in front of the church and a small turret on the nave. The diocese wants a much more sober church building with only a bell tower. As a compromise: no real tower, but the planned wooden roof truss is replaced by a beautiful stone vault. On July 5, 1953, pastor van Bakel, under the great interest of his parishioners, was allowed to lay the foundation stone.

As early as April 11, 1954 (Palm Sunday), the new church of Pastor Van Bakel and chaplain J. Merkx was solemnly inaugurated. The official dedication by Msgr. W.Mutsaerts was on Monday, May 3, 1954.
