Dubai's iconic five-star destination hotel Atlantis The Palm will embark on a three-year program of upgrades starting Wednesday with an investment of $100 million.
The works will leave a total of 50 rooms and suites renovated every six weeks.
The completion of the works will be for the year 2019, just in time for Dubai Expo 2020.
The contract for the design of the rooms was awarded to the UAE-based interior design company studio WA International .
The makeover will leave contemporary carpets reminiscent of the turquoise and azure blue waters of the sea , with coral tones in the rooms.
The remodeling will also extend to balcony areas as well as the bathrooms , which will include Didyma Greek marble toilets.
The Kaleidoscope Hotel restaurant is also currently undergoing renovations and will reopen in September 2017.
Atlantis The Palm posted average occupancy levels of 93% in the first five months of this year, an 11% increase over the prior year .
Serge Zaalof, Head of Operations at Atlantis Resorts & Residences, said the numbers were driven by its competitive rates and an increase in guests from Russia, China, India and European countries like France and Germany.
“April was our strongest month to date since opening. such a positive start to 2017 is encouraging ”, he concluded.
