Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Road stretches across an impressive eight kilometres of manicured waterfront that includes children’s play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, cafés and restaurants, and the stunning, lifeguarded Corniche Beach.

"Not just home to turquoise water and a soft white sand shore, the beach also boasts a beautiful seaside boardwalk, with well-kept walkways home to manicured gardens and benches overlooking the picturesque Arabian Gulf.

Some 30,000 to 50,000 visitors flock to the Corniche every month, with the 2km beach being divided into three sections: Al Sahil (Gate 4, free entry) is perfect for singles and larger groups, Gate 2 is ideal for families and has its own quiet zone, with Gate 3 also being great for families and kids. The two latter beaches are shielded from view with a fence. Showers, changing rooms and cabanas are available, and sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired for a fee. A lifeguard is on duty until sunset.
Abu Dhabi’s pristine Corniche beachfront has been awarded coveted Blue Flag status, with this internationally renowned eco-label for beaches and marinas guaranteeing clean and safe seawater.
There are more than 1,100 free parking spaces within a five-minute walk of the beach, with entry to the family and singles sections costing AED 10. Entry to the public beach is free.
A fun and healthy way to tour the Corniche is to hire a bicycle.
Fun Ride Sports hires out a selection of cycles, from mountain bikes to city bikes that can fit two or three passengers on the back, and even specially designed bikes for women wearing abayas.
Fun Ride Sports has four rental stations along the Corniche boardwalk, with its main station being outside Radisson Blu Beach Club and Spa. Hire starts at AED 30 per hour for adults and AED 20 for children. Voucher booklets for 12 hours of cycling are also available for AED 250.
