The Royal British Legion (RBL), formerly the British Legion, is a British charity providing financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants, as well as all others in need.
This war memorial stands outside their Castleford branch at 117 Powell Street.
The cross is primarily in remembrance of the dead of the two World Wars, but also for all who have fallen in wars. There is the following inscription on the plinth of the cross.
