The Art Deco style Film Center Building is a 13 story high office building built to be utilized by the film, theater, and music businesses. It occupies the corner of West 44th and 9th Avenue with the Art Deco main entrance on 9th Avenue. The building was designed by Ely Jacques Kahn of the firm of Buchman & Kahn and built between 1928 and 1929.

The brown brick walls of the building has an Art Deco style exterior wall treatment mimicking woven fabric design between the floors and below the roof-line. Vertical stepped-up columns are placed three bays apart from the 10th floor ending with complex stepped back design on the 13th floors. Intermediate bays has simple rectangular columns. Above the ground level is a contrasting section of white stone with decorative streamlining at the corner and ends of the building.

The Film Building was places on the National Register of Historic places in 1984. (visit link)
