[ES] El conjunto escultórico "Los Aplausos” ubicado en el Paseo de la Concordia esquina con la calle Mateo Inurria, junto al Hospital Universitario de Torrejón de Ardoz, ha sido diseñado por el artista José Luis Fernández en un intento de homenajear a los trabajadores de los servicios esenciales y voluntarios por su esfuerzo y dedicación durante la pandemia de la COVID-19 .
En el acto de inauguración, el 11 de septiembre de 2021, el alcalde de Torrejón destacó que “en estos duros meses donde la enfermedad provocada por la Covid-19 se ha convertido en el triste protagonista de nuestro día a día, se ha demostrado el trabajo indispensable que desarrollan para nuestra sociedad los diferentes profesionales y voluntarios”.
APLAUSOS ETERNOS
Durante el tiempo de confinamiento surgió un movimiento en toda España para apoyar desde casa a los sanitarios y personas que estaban en primera línea luchando contra la Covid-19. Todos los días a las 20:00 horas los ciudadanos salían a sus ventanas y balcones para aplaudirles. Este gesto se convirtió en un símbolo que se ha inmortalizado en esta escultura, aplausos eternos de agradecimiento para los héroes de la pandemia y de recuerdo para las generaciones futuras.

[EN] The sculptural complex "Los Aplausos" located on the Paseo de la Concordia corner with Mateo Inurria Street, next to the Torrejón de Ardoz University Hospital, has been designed by the artist José Luis Fernández in an attempt to honor service workers essential workers and volunteers for their effort and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the inauguration ceremony, on September 11, 2021, the mayor of Torrejón highlighted that "in these hard months where the disease caused by Covid-19 has become the sad protagonist of our daily lives, the indispensable work carried out for our society by the different professionals and volunteers”.
ETERNAL APPLAUSE
During the time of confinement, a movement arose throughout Spain to support health workers and people who were on the front line fighting against Covid-19 from home. Every day at 8:00 p.m. the citizens came out to their windows and balconies to applaud them. This gesture became a symbol that has been immortalized in this sculpture, eternal applause of gratitude for the heroes of the pandemic and a memory for future generations.
