Big Basin and Little Basin are two natural sinkholes, formed a few thousand years ago when gypsum and salt deposits deep underground dissolved and the ground overhead collapsed. Little Basin is the site of St. Jacob's Well. This windmill is perched on the east rim of Big Basin, a bit north of Little Basin. There is a parking area nearby, if you have a vehicle that can negotiate the rough road that leads here. The windmill pumps water into a large stock tank.
