The cable car line, built in 1925, is the second oldest cable car line in the Kanto region, and the fifth oldest in Japan.
One of the greatest cable cars in Japan, Mt. Tsukuba cable car links Miyawaki Station near the Mt. Tsukuba shrine and Tsukuba-sancho Station.
