The sculpture represents someone with sight problems and the head's right eye is normal but the left eye has been carved as though skin has grown over the eye socket.
There is a plaque below the head that also contains braille lettering as is appropriate for a charity related to sight issues.

Coronation Garden is a small enclosed garden area opposite St. Mary's Church. The area was between 1829 and 1869 the church's burial ground. In 1955 the church conveyed the land to Beverley Corporation and the garden was created to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Many of the headstones were moved to the side of the garden and arranged vertically along the garden walls.
