"Francisco Xavier Rodríguez Baixeras ( Tarragona , 1945 ) is a poet and translator from Galicia , Spain .
Biography
He was born in Tarragona, where his paternal grandfather, originally from Nois, a parish in the council of Foz , was stationed as a soldier . His father, secretary of local administration, practiced in Puebla del Caramiñal ; his mother was Catalan. The family later went to Ribadeo where Francisco Xavier completed his primary studies. In 1957 they moved to Segovia when the father was appointed secretary of the Provincial Council . There he studied high school. He studied at the University of Valladolid , and later at Madrid, where he graduated in Romance Philology .

In Madrid he resumed contact with Galicia through the classes directed by Xosé Ramón Fernández-Oxea in the Unesco delegation . He also met Raimundo Patiño Mancebo . In 1970 he moved again with the family, this time to La Coruña , where he began to teach at the Ramón Puga Institute. By approving the oppositions he obtained a place in Palma de Mallorca , where he lived for three years. In 1977 he moved to Vigo , where he came into contact with writers and cultural people. Personal friend of poets and artists from the Movida Viguesa of the 80s, such as Xosé María Álvarez Cáccamo , Fernán Velloor Ramiro Fonte . Since the eighties he has been writing books of poetry, essays and dictionaries in Galician, Catalan, Portuguese and Spanish. After living in Salvador de Bahía, he lives in Vigo.

Spanish Critics Award in the Galician poetry category in 1997, for Beira Norte
Losada Diéguez Prize for literary creation in 2001, for Eclipse .
VIII Caixanova Award 2009, for Deserto Diamantino .
Tribute to The Writer in his Land by the Association of Writers in the Galician Language in 2007.
Prize of the XXX edition of Cidade de Ourense Poetry in 2013, for A luz extinta .
Ramón Cabanillas Award for Translation, from the Junta de Galicia no 1992, for "O deserto dos tátaros".
In 2020 winner of the XXVI National Prize for Journalism Gastronomy Álvaro Cunqueiro summoned by the Council of Lalín in the framework of the "Feira do Cocido" by Dicionário da Comida Galega."
