The Sand Creek Bridge was constructed by the WPA in 1939. The bridge stones also name the Major County Commissioner (John Shewey) and Major County Engineer (Carl Carrison). The Foreman (Bill Peck) also has his name engraved in concrete. Some of the original stone guardrails are gone and have been patched together with metal, but the bridge seems sound enough for an eighty year old project.
