Survey Disk located within a bridge footing at coordinates just North and East of Vandeleur, Ontario. The bridge spans the Beaver River just west of the intersection of Lower Valley Road and County Road 30.

The survey disk is located at coordinates just North and East of Vandeleur, Ontario near the junction of Lower Valley Road and County Road 30. This waymark is a small metal disk about 1.75" in diameter. It is embedded into the cement foundation footing of the bridge, which spans the Beaver River - on its north and west end. It is about 10 inches off the roadway and is located behind the guardrail connection point to the bridge. The marker says "Water Survey of Canada" and has a cross cut into it about 1" horizontally and 1" vertically. (see pics) The marker looks like it is of recent construction - apparently circa 2005.

An instrument shed is located at the coordinates - N 44° 20.767 W 080° 32.383, which is just across the road and slightly down from the disk. This shed presumably houses the recording instrumentation.
Note: Apparently, these reference markers are installed in sets of 2 or 3. Next time I'm in the area, I'll attempt to locate the mating reference marker(s) and update this waymark. Anyone finding this waymark is more than welcome to look, take a waypoint and a couple of pics and record them in your log, I'll be able to update it sooner!!!
There is good parking on either side of the bridge, but care must be taken as it is roadside parking, especially with children.
