"Notre-Dame-de-la-Clarté belongs to the flamboyant Breton style. One immediately notices certain irregularities which contribute to its originality without harming the harmony: a single southern transept; a square tower surmounted by an openwork bell tower in pink granite which does not seem to be part of the architectural ensemble. The church is surrounded by an enclosure comprising, in its centre, a 17th century granite plinth adorned with a wooden iron trunk for the offerings. Further on, a cross erected by Mr. Guillaume Salaün who had it erected in 1630.

The Costa Rican tradition of the 15th century tells that a certain lord of Barac'h, in Louannec, nearly ran aground with his squadron near Sept-Îles. The fog was so thick that the death of the sailors seemed inevitable. All, on their knees, made a wish to Notre-Dame: the commandant would build a chapel for her if she made a saving break through the fog. The miracle took place and the Lord of Barac'h had the Chapel of Notre-Dame de la Clarté built.

The south, north, west and north-west portals with pointed arches are decorated with finials, brackets and kale and have pilasters topped with pinnacles. The slopes of the south gables are decorated with hooks. The south portal is surmounted by a frieze decorated with a sculpted decoration representing on the right the scene of the Annunciation and on the left a Virgin of pity assisted by two characters.

Unidentified coats of arms are located on either side of the crossing surmounted by a niche housing a crowned Virgin and Child. The arms of Rolland IV de Coëtmen, founder of the chapel, are placed on the apse to the left of the large glass roof (helmeted lion holding a banner adorned with nine rings)."

La tradition costarmoricaine du xve siècle raconte qu'un certain seigneur de Barac'h, en Louannec, faillit s'échouer avec son escadre près des Sept-Îles. La brume était si épaisse que la mort des marins semblait inéluctable. Tous, à genoux, firent un voeu à Notre-Dame : le commandant lui élèverait une chapelle si elle opérait une trouée salvatrice dans le brouillard. Le miracle eut lieu et le seigneur de Barac'h fit édifier la Chapelle de Notre-Dame de la Clarté.

La chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Clarté est un édifice de style gothique régional construit en grand et moyen appareil de granite rose (granite rose à petits grains de Saint-Samson et granite rose à gros grains de la Clarté-Poumanac'h).

Edifiée sur une parcelle délimitée par un mur de clôture doté de plusieurs accès par échalier et de bancs intérieurs, elle est composée d'une nef orientée flanquée au nord d'un bas-côté de trois travées et au sud d'un porche à étage et d'une chapelle en retour d'équerre. Elle comprend également au nord-ouest une tour-porche carrée sommée d'une flèche octogonale en maçonnerie, ainsi qu'une sacristie rapportée au nord-est coiffée d'une croupe.

Epaulé de deux contreforts angulaires, le porche, dont l'étage abrite une secrétairerie prenant jour au sud par une croisée, est accosté à gauche d'une tour octogonale hors-oeuvre enfermant un escalier en vis en maçonnerie.

La tour-porche, également épaulée de contreforts angulaires, est flanquée au sud-est d'une tour d'escalier dans-oeuvre enfermant un escalier en vis en maçonnerie. Le couvrement du porche sud et du porche nord-ouest est formé par une voûte d'ogives, celui de la nef par un berceau brisé lambrissé et celui du bas-côté nord par un demi-berceau lambrissé. Le décor est essentiellement localisé sur les baies. L'espace intérieur est éclairé par des baies à remplage de pierre de style gothique flamboyant.

Les portails sud, nord, ouest et nord-ouest à arc brisé sont ornés de fleurons, crochets et choux frisés et présentent des pilastres sommés de pinacles. Les rampants des pignons sud sont ornés de crochets. Le portail sud est surmonté d'une frise ornée d'un décor sculpté représentant à droite la scène de l'Annonciation et à gauche une Vierge de pitié assistée de deux personnages.

Des armoiries non identifiées sont situées de part et d'autre de la croisée surmontée d'une niche abritant une Vierge couronnée à l'Enfant. Les armes de Rolland IV de Coëtmen, fondateur de la chapelle, sont placées sur le chevet à gauche de la grande verrière (lion casqué tenant une bannière ornée de neuf annelets). "
