This pedestrian footbridge spans the Jackson River near Covington, Virginia.
This bridge does not show on the Geocaching map or Google maps, but Google maps does have a pin called Swinging Bridge. It may not be useful for driving directions, so directions are provided below.
This bridge can be reached from the Jackson River scenic trail, on which you can either hike or bike from a designated trailhead. This bridge is between the Petticoat Junction Trailhead and the Smith Bridge Trailhead. This link shows a map of the trail: Jackson River Scenic Trail Map. The footbridge is not indicated on the map but you can see the aforementioned trailheads, and if you click the link to download the map as a PDF, it includes driving directions to the trailheads. From the trail, there is a small sign pointing toward the swinging bridge and a short walk through the woods to get to it.
Alternatively, you can drive right to the other side of the bridge on VA-687 (Jackson River Road), but there is limited parking. There is a small gravel area to pull off the road, which is big enough for about two cars. From there you can walk right onto the bridge.
Enjoy the beautiful Jackson River and the adventure of walking across this old footbridge.
