Beverley Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in the town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.

The word "jockey" originated from England and was used to describe the individual who rode horses in racing. They must be light, typically around a weight of 100-120 lb., and physically fit. Beverley racecourse is a right-handed flat course, that is just over 1 mile 3 furlongs.
The statue is made out of recycled horseshoes and was sculpted by Tom Hill in 2014 who specialises in making life size sculptures in this way, but usually of horses.
