Jonggak Station is part of the first section of the first subway line built in Korea. Jonggak Station was open in August 1974. Exit 4, on the south side of Jong-ro, is designed for best access to the Gwancheol-dong area, the Bosingak bell pavilion and the Korea Development Bank building. Jonggak Station, Line 1, is identified as station #131 in the Seoul Metro system.
