[ES] El mundo de los rascacielos y los edificios de oficinas modernos es bastante desolador. Con contadas excepciones las empresas buscan un edificio funcional, con plantas diáfanas y con poco margen para la creatividad arquitectónica.
Una clara excepción a este aburrimiento arquitectónico son los edificios «Esferas Gemelas» diseñados por el arquitecto Roberto Pérez Guerras y ubicados en el Paseo Doce Estrellas construidos simétricos respecto a la Avenida de la Capital de España, en una zona de oficinas creada a la par que los recintos feriales de IFEMA.
Terminados en 1989, están estructurados a partir de una esfera sostenida por tres cuerpos de edificios con forma de paralelepípedo. Estos son los primeros edificios inteligentes que se construyeron en Madrid, y originalmente fueron las sedes de las empresas Bull y Génesis.
El interior es muy original, bueno, era, porque se adelantó muchos años a la tendencia actual de ordenación de oficinas con zonas comunes, salas de reuniones informales, zonas de ocio y relax. Se notan las intenciones orgánicas del arquitecto en la abundancia de luz natural y las diferencias entre plantas.
En el 2005 un coche bomba de ETA aparcado frente al edificio de Bull la víspera de la inauguración de ARCO y causando numerosos heridos y daños en la fachada de cristal del edificio.

[EN] The world of skyscrapers and modern office buildings is pretty bleak. With few exceptions, companies look for a functional building, with open floors and little room for architectural creativity.
A clear exception to this architectural boredom are the "Esferas Gemelas", (= twin spheres), buildings designed by the architect Roberto Pérez Guerras and located on the Paseo Doce Estrellas, built symmetrically to the Avenida de la Capital de España, in an office area created at the same time as the IFEMA fairgrounds.
Completed in 1989, they are structured around a sphere supported by three blocks of parallelepiped-shaped buildings. These are the first smart buildings to be built in Madrid, and were originally the headquarters of the Bull and Genesis companies.
The interior is very original, well, it was, because it was many years ahead of the current trend of organizing offices with common areas, informal meeting rooms, leisure and relaxation areas. The organic intentions of the architect are noted in the abundance of natural light and the differences between floors.
In 2005, an ETA car bomb parked in front of the Bull building on the eve of the ARCO inauguration, causing numerous injuries and damage to the building's glass facade.
