[FIN] Lääkäri Henrik Cajander (1804-1848) oli kiinnostunut valokuvauksesta. Cajander kuvasi Suomen vanhimman tunnetusti säilyneen valokuvan, dagerrotyypin, Turussa 3. marraskuuta 1842. Kuvassa on Uudenmaankatu 8:ssa sijainnut niin kutsuttu Nobelin talo, jonka takaa näkyy Turun tuomiokirkon torni.
Tästä tapahtumasta muistuttaa Uudenmaankadun varteen pystytetty pronssinen muistolaatta. Siinä on tekstit sekä suomeksi että ruotsiksi.
[EN] Doctor Henrik Cajander (1804-1848) was interested in photography. Cajander took the oldest known surviving photograph in Finland, a daguerreotype, in Turku on November 3, 1842. The photo shows the so-called Nobel house located at Uudenmaankatu 8, with the Turku cathedral tower visible behind it. This event is commemorated by a bronze commemorative plaque erected along Uudenmaankatu. It has texts in both Finnish and Swedish.
