Eigentlich bestehen die Felsformationen rund um Gerolstein aus 350 Millionen Jahre alten Dolomoitfelsen, welche sich aus dem Eifeler Korallenmeer bildetet. Hier am Heimatpfad ist roter Bundsandstein zu finden. Diese entstanden aus einer Wüstenzeit vor 250 Millionen.

Dies alles ist mit sehr interessanten Schautafeln in dem eigentlich unbekannten Felsenband erklärt. Mehrere Sitzbänke und eine kleine Schutzhütte runden den kurzen Weg ab.

Actually, the rock formations around Gerolstein consist of 350-million-year-old dolomite rocks, which formed from the Eifel Coral Sea. Here on the Heimatpfad, red sandstone can be found. These were formed during a desert period 250 million years ago.

All this is explained with very interesting information boards in the actually unknown rock band. Several benches and a small shelter complete the short trail.
