The large village of Abernethy lies six miles south-east of the city of Perth in Scotland at the northern foot of the Ochil Hills. Its prime burial ground was in the parish churchyard, but when this became full a new site was acquired in 1950 a mile to the east on the south side of the road to Newburgh.
The cemetery is sandwiched between the A913 road and the Perth to Edinburgh railway line and has an entrance to the east and exit to the west onto the road. It is mainly surrounded by trees with a hedge bordering the road on the north side.
