[FR] Avant son aménagement et sa rétrocession à la Ville de Châteauroux en 1945, la fontaine Saint-Christophe, tout comme les prairies aux alentours, était la propriété de la famille Balsan.
Déjà à cette époque, un droit de puisage existait et les femmes du quartier venaient y faire leur lessive. Elles déploraient qu'un abri ne soit pas aménagé sur ce site.
En 2009, sous l'impulsion du Conseil de Grand Quartier Saint-Christophe - Les Rocheforts - Vaugirard - Belle-Isle, les services municipaux ont procédé à sa rénovation et permis ainsi de redonner une âme à ce lieu bucolique.
[EN] Before its development and its retrocession to the City of Châteauroux in 1945, the Saint-Christophe fountain, like the surrounding meadows, was the property of the Balsan family.
Already at that time, a right to draw water existed and the women of the neighborhood came to do their laundry there. They deplored the fact that a shelter had not been built on this site.
In 2009, under the impulse of the Saint-Christophe - Les Rocheforts - Vaugirard - Belle-Isle Grand Quartier Council, the municipal services proceeded to its renovation and thus allowed to give back a soul to this bucolic place.
