Canton Lake and Dam was constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1948. The dam is 68' high and over 15,000 feet long. The reservoir serves as a water supply for Oklahoma City; water is released here and flows down the North Canadian River to Lake Overholser and then Lake Hefner. The lake has forty-five miles of shoreline and is open to recreational activities, including boating, fishing, and swimming.
