NL De route start bij de kruising van het Rodetorenplein en de Melkmarkt. Wij parkeerden bij de ondergrondse parkeergarage Maagjesbolwerk, bij de MediaMarkt. Vanuit het startpunt, sla de Melkmarkt in. In deze straat zijn vele Rijksmonumenten en ze zijn bijna allemaal tot een waymark gemaakt. Elk pand dat er een beetje oud uitziet kan gefotografeerd worden en je hebt een waymark bezocht. Onderweg kom je ook langs een visrestaurant (Visser Seafood), een noodle shop (Misoji Ramen) en meerdere stolpersteine in het noordelijke trottoir. Loop de straat uit en dan kom je bij stop 1: de Grote Markt.

De Grote Markt is het centrale plein van Zwolle. Hier ligt de oudste kern van de stad. Op de Grote Markt zijn ook veel waymarks te vinden (De Grote Markt zelf is ook gepost als monopoly-locatie). Op het midden van het plein staat het kunstwerk De Glazen Engel. Ten zuiden van het plein ligt de Grote of St-Michaelskerk, een zeer imposante kerk die het bezoeken waard is. De toren van de kerk is in de 17e eeuw afgebrand na meerdere blikseminslagen maar dit was ooit de hoogste toren van het land. Ga langs de kerk langs de Voorstraat en de Luttekestraat en op het zuidelijke kerkplein vind je stop 2: De Beurs

Hier kan je goed lunchen (dat hebben wij ook gedaan). Je kan ook de locatie bezoeken voor de kandelaars van flessen en het is ook een vintage ad location. Kijk even over de huizen langs de Luttekestraat heen en dan zie je de beroemde Peperbus, de toren van de Onze Lieve Vrouwe kerk. Vervolg je weg langs de Luttekestraat en tot je aan je linkerhand de Blijmarkt vindt. Ga deze straat in en na een tijdje lopen kom je bij Museum de Fundatie, dit is stop 3.

Museum de Fundatie heeft een uitgebreide kunstcollectie en is dus het bezoeken waard. Zelfs zonder een bezoek aan het interieur valt het op door de opvallende architectuur. Het gebouw heeft vroeger gediend als rechtsbank. Naast het museumgebouw vind je een oude stadspomp en daarnaast de Lutherse Kerk. Dit is nu ook in gebruik (en gepost) als anglicaanse kerk. Loop verder door de Koestraat.

Stop 4 herken je meteen als je het ziet; de imposante Middeleeuwse stadspoort van Zwolle, de Sassenpoort. Het is een hele grote stadspoort de nog perfect bewaard is gebleven. Rondom de Sassenpoort vind je ook een tableau die het 700-jarig bestaan van de stad Zwolle eert en een mooi 18e eeuws kanon aan de voorzijde. Vanuit de Sassenpoort loopt een weg direct de stad weer in. Dit is de Sassenstraat die we nu gaan volgen. Aan je rechterhand passeer je Nende Kunst, een mooi atelier. Op de Hoek van de Nieuwe Markt ( de eerste straat aan je rechterzijde) en de Sassenstraat is het stadscafé De Refter, stop 5.

Het Refter is een van de oudste gebouwen van de stad. Het diende ooit als bijgebouw van het klooster bij de achter het Refter gelegen Bethlehemskerk. Het is in zijn lange historie in gebruik geweest als onder andere graanbeurs en vakschool, maar nu kan je er mooi een biertje pakken. Vervolg dan je weg op de Nieuwe Markt en sla links de Oude Vismarkt op. Vervolg deze weg naar de Grote Markt waar je eerder bent geweest. Dan kan je weer terug via de Melkmarkt naar het startpunt, of nog verder genieten van deze mooie stad.
ENG The route starts at the intersection of Rodetorenplein and Melkmarkt. We parked at the underground parking Maagjesbolwerk, at the MediaMarkt. From the starting point, turn into the Melkmarkt. In this street are many national monuments and almost all of them have been turned into a waymark. Any building that looks a bit old can be photographed and you have visited a waymark. Along the way you will also pass a seafood restaurant (Visser Seafood), a noodle shop (Misoji Ramen) and several stolpersteine in the northern sidewalk. Walk down the street and you will come to stop 1: the Grote Markt.

The Grote Markt is the central square of Zwolle. This is where the oldest core of the city is located. There are also many waymarks on the Grote Markt (The Grote Markt itself is also posted as a monopoly location). In the middle of the square is the artwork The Glass Angel. South of the square is the Grote or St Michael's Church, a very imposing church that is worth visiting. The tower of the church burned down in the 17th century after several lightning strikes, but this was once the tallest tower in the country. Go past the church along the Voorstraat and the Luttekestraat and on the southern church square you will find stop 2: De Beurs

Here you can have a good lunch (we did that too). You can also visit the location for the bottle candlesticks and it is also a vintage ad location. Look over the houses along the Luttekestraat and you will see the famous Peperbus, the tower of the Onze Lieve Vrouwe church. Continue along the Luttekestraat until you find the Blijmarkt on your left. Enter this street and after a while you will come to Museum de Fundatie, this is stop 3.

Museum de Fundatie has an extensive art collection and is therefore worth a visit. Even without visiting the interior, it stands out for its striking architecture. The building used to serve as a court of law. Next to the museum building you will find an old city pump and next to it the Lutheran Church. This is now also in use (and posted) as an Anglican church. Continue through the Koestraat.

Stop 4 recognizes you immediately when you see it; the imposing medieval city gate of Zwolle, the Sassenpoort. It is a very large city gate that has been perfectly preserved. Around the Sassenpoort you will also find a tableau that honors the 700th anniversary of the city of Zwolle and a beautiful 18th century cannon at the front. From the Sassenpoort a road leads directly back into the city. This is the Sassenstraat that we are now going to follow. On your right you will pass Nende Kunst, a beautiful studio. On the corner of the Nieuwe Markt (the first street on your right) and the Sassenstraat is the city café De Refter, stop 5.

The Refter is one of the oldest buildings in the city. It once served as an outbuilding of the monastery at the Bethlehemskerk located behind the Refter. It has been used in its long history as a grain fair and vocational school, among other things, but now you can grab a beer there. Then continue on the Nieuwe Markt and turn left onto the Oude Vismarkt. Follow this road to the Grote Markt where you have been before. Then you can go back via the Melkmarkt to the starting point, or enjoy this beautiful city even further.
