English: Historic lifeboat at Sønderho Rescue Station. Today, the rescue station functions as a museum. It is open to guests during the summer.

By law of 1 April 1887, a state rescue station was established in Sønderho. - 1 Oct. 1887 a new lifeboat arrived in Sønderho.
The boathouse was also built in 1887 and already 5 days after the arrival of the lifeboat, the boat and equipment were tested and found to be in order.

The first stranding in the station's history took place in July 1888. In the old stored protocols, you can follow both rescue operations and exercises, which were carried out by the 12-man crew.

In the autumn of 1888, the rescue station was supplemented with a guard and patrol service, mainly in the winter and only in bad weather with gales or storms.

At the same time, an alarm house was acquired, from which there was a telephone connection to the boat house and also to 2 places on the beach. This naturally reduced the alerting time considerably.

In 1938, the station got a new type of boat that had previously been stationed at Anholt, and there was also good use for the lifeboat during the Second World War, when the crew of crashed planes needed assistance and rescue.

The last rescue operation with a rowing lifeboat took place in 1956.

In the autumn of 1958, the station was provided with a motor lifeboat, this was later replaced, so that the station today has completely modern equipment.

In 1974, the old boathouse was officially closed down and the old, well-used lifeboat sent to Greenland. The lifeboat that can be seen today is therefore not the original one, but a boat of the same type.
