Le couvent de la Visitation Sainte-Marie-d'en-haut ouvre en 1621 pour accueillir des moniales cloîtrées, issues des plus grandes familles de Grenoble. L’ordre a été fondé quelques années auparavant par l’évêque de Genève, saint François de Salles.

The convent of the Visitation Sainte-Marie-d'en-haut opened in 1621 to welcome cloistered nuns from the most prominent families of Grenoble. The order had been founded a few years earlier by the bishop of Geneva, Saint François de Salles.


A l'intérieur du cloitre du couvent Sainte Marie d'en haut, deux puits sont présents. Il sont ronds en pierre et surmonté par un support métallique auquel était accroché une poulie pour remonter l'eau.
Les puits sont fermés par un couvercle métallique.

Inside the cloister of the convent Sainte Marie d'en haut, two wells are present. They are round in stone and surmounted by a metal support to which was hung a pulley to bring up the water.
The wells are closed by a metallic cover.
