This former hermit's house in the marl wall of the Bemelerberg, is located in a niece landscape in Limburg (NL). The location itself is a Dutch National Monument. The hermit's house can be viewed from the road.

"Of the former 'kluis' (hermit's house), located as a cave house in the marl wall of the Bemelerberg, in the second rock massif east of the road to Berg, some remains of windows and doorways have been preserved. A kind of terrace has also been preserved. The last hermit to live in Bemelen died in 1804"

"Before 1600, the quarry was used by block crushers.
In the 18th century, the cave house in the quarry was used as a hermitage.
The last hermit died in 1804.
In 1829 part of the ceiling of the quarry collapsed"
