[EN] The abbey of Chancelade forms a whole including, in addition to the church, the dwelling known as Bourdeilles (presbytery), the entrance door, the buildings of common, the XVIIth century dwelling, the old mill, the abbot's dwelling, the terraces and gardens. The church is a Romanesque building with a cruciform plan, very retouched; the nave has five bays, vaulted with ogives in 1630; the crossing is vaulted with a dome on pendentives; a sacristy of the XVIIth century is adjoined to the choir; a square bell tower surmounts the crossing of the transept; inside, stalls date from the first half of the XVIIth century The chapel of Saint-Jean was consecrated in 1147; it is vaulted in broken barrel and has a semi-circular apse vaulted in cul-de-four. The dwelling known as Bourdeilles is stuck to the north-western angle of the church; it dates from the 15th century, but was strongly altered in the 17th century. The outbuildings were located to the west of the abbey: they include a vat room, a cellar, a dwelling and a mill. The vat house is a vast 15th century building, vaulted in the 16th century with a low barrel vault. The cellar dates back to the 14th century, but was vaulted in the 17th century. Perpendicularly to the cellar, there is a 17th century dwelling. This dwelling is next to the fortified mill, whose substructions may date back to the 14th century, and which was altered in the 15th and 16th centuries; this abbey mill, which has blocked Romanesque openings, is fed by a diversion of the Beauronne; it has a rectangular plan and straddles the entire diversion; it provided the flour for the former abbey. To the east of the abbey, there is a dwelling known as the abbot's house, part of which dates from the 13th century; the whole building was rebuilt in the 18th century.
