This bust of
Nicolaus Copernicus was commissioned to commemorate the 500th anniversary of his birth February 19, 1473. Copernicus was famous for many things, but is most remembered for his heliocentric model of the universe which placed the sun at the center vice the earth.
This statue was presented by the Copernicus Observances Committee, Inc. in 1973. The dedication reads:
