Village Green was established in 1899 on the site of the Grand Central Hotel. The bandstand was originally the only amenity in the park, although it was in a different location in the park than it is today. In the 1920s, Beatrix Farrand designed the paths and had the bandstand rebuilt, as well as the landscaping.
The bandstand is at ground level and consists of wooden posts and a low wooden fence, all painted green. The entrance faces Firefly Lane and shrubbery surrounds the rest of the gazebo. When we passed there were 2 chairs inside.
In 2005, the bandstand was dedicated to Donald A. Wood who served as director of the Bar Harbor Town Band for over 40 years.
