It is thought that the pharmacy was rebuilt in 1924. From an architectural point of view, the building presents historicist features, whose façade has characteristic elements from the first quarter of the 20th century eclecticism.
The interior of the pharmacy was remodeled, according to the new European norms of accessibility, having been preserved some of the old furniture and some decorative elements. The previous elements are partly displayed in the lab we can find in the pharmacy’s facilities.
The pharmacy was founded in 1917 by António Andrade Dionísio, known as “Andrade”. The same family administrates the business, being the current Technical Director the great-granddaughter of the founder.
The pharmacy is a reference. The prime location and its longevity are strong contributes to that. The name is characteristic from the First Republic times (1910-1926): “Farmácia Portugueza”.
