To reach the benchmark from WY State Highway 59, turn onto USFS Road 961 and head due west. Your will cross over 4 sets of railroad tracks shortly after turning off of the highway - there is no signal at the tracks, so please obey the stop signs and be very watchful of oncoming trains!

You will see a group of small evergreens off to your right (north); drive completely past these trees and look for a small dry lake basin off to your left. You will cross over a metal culvert pipe where the “outlet” channel of the lake heads north and intersects the road. Shortly after crossing the culvert, you should see a metal post a short distance off to the north side of the road. The benchmark is located approximately 2 feet south of the metal post, set in a square concrete monument that projects about 1 foot above the ground.
