This concrete marker, in the shape of the State of Oklahoma, is on the north side of the State Capitol Publishing Museum. The marker was erected by a high school history class in 1955. The text is:
FIRST NEWSPAPER
This site marks the home of the first metropolitan newspaper in Oklahoma, "The Okla. Capitol." Across street east was the home of 4 territorial legislatures. Across street north was notorious "Reeves Brothers' Saloon." On N.E. corner was the "Bluebell Saloon" where Tom Mix served as bartender.
