Library Website

"The library offers books, audio books, and DVDs for check-out. The library also offers copy and fax services to the public.

The beginnings of the Daingerfield Public Library can be traced to 1953 when members of a local civic club canvassed the town collecting donated books and served as librarians.

From humble beginnings in a small room at the Morris County Jail the library then moved to its current building in 1967. Once again, local civic clubs – Lions Club, Pandora Study Club, and the Maia Study Club – were instrumental in raising funds for the new library with a helping hand from many local citizens and a grant from the Texas State Library Board.

The official dedication was conducted in 1968 with Marvin Watson, former resident and Postmaster General under President Lyndon B. Johnson, presiding over the affair. The library was then deeded to the City of Daingerfield and remains under its custodianship."
