This area is NOT O'Fallon, but Dardenne. A small town bulldozed to make way for a Hwy interchange. I-70 & Hwy N. This site is also MO Hwy DD.

Dedicated: September 11, 2003

This memorial is constructed of steel beams and other remains of the World Trade Center, an engraved granite block and three flag poles. It is in the median of a sometimes very busy street so caution is necessary to approach the memorial on foot.

"The "Spirit of Freedom" 9/11 Memorial at Winghaven Boulevard just before getting on to and off of Highway 40/61 in O'Fallon was dedicated on Sept. 11, 2003, in memory of those killed. The memorial weighs 13 tons." ~ St. Louis Public Radio
