The railway station and yard at Forbes opened on 18 December 1893 with a 100m platform and station buildings on the western side of the line. Built of brick the station is symmetrical, consisting of a long central section flanked at each end by a connected wing which lies at right angles to the main section.The platform awning is supported by graceful iron brackets,on the street side of the station there is a concave roofed verandah with iron posts (paired at the corners) and decorative frieze and brackets.
