The Homem de Aço (Man of Steel) was created from scrap metal during the construction of the Itaipu Dam. According to
this article during the construction of the dam members of the construction crew gathered scraps and worked with them until they were able to construct a figure that resembled a person. The final product weighs over two tons. the Man of Steel now resides in a place of honor in the courtyard of the Visitors Center.
