EN: "Suonen" or "Bissen" are the historical irrigation canals in Valais that conduct water from the mountain streams to the low rainfall agricultural areas in the Rhone Valley. Some of them date back to the 10th century. They channel water with little gradient over long distances and frequently overcome spectacular obstacles, for example along rock faces. Since the 1950s, many irrigation channels were abandoned, but later it was discovered their touristic and ecologic value, so that today more Suonen are again in operation. Often paths for maintenance lead along the irrigation channels that are currently advertised as hiking trails.

The Undra Suone was first mentioned in 1377 and was one of the most important of the many Suonen in Ausserberg, as it was used not only for agriculture but also to supply the population with drinking water until 1939. In addition, the water was also used for washing and operated three mills and a sawmill. The Suone is 2.9 kilometers long and starts at 1099 m.a.s.l. at the Baltschiederbach. Today its water is mainly used for agricultural irrigation.

Ihre Geschichte geht zum Teil bis ins 10. Jahrhundert zurück. Sie leiten dass Wasser mit wenig Gefälle über weite Strecken und überwinden häufig spektakuläre Hindernisse, zum Beispiel entlang von Felswänden. Ab den 1950er Jahren wurden viele Suonen aufgegeben, aber später entdeckte man ihren touristischen und ökologischen Wert, so dass heute wieder mehr Suonen in Betrieb sind. Meist führen Pfade für den Unterhalt entlang der Suonen, die heute als Wanderwege beworben werden.

Die Undra-Suone wurde 1377 erstmals erwähnt und war eine der wichtigsten der vielen Suonen in Ausserberg, da sie nicht nur für die Landwirtschaft, sondern bis 1939 auch zur Trinkwasserversorgung der Bevölkerung gebraucht wurde. Daneben wurde das Wasser auch für die Wäsche verwendet und betrieb drei Mühlen und eine Säge. Die Suone ist 2.9 Kilometer lang und beginnt auf 1099 m.ü.M. beim Baltschiederbach. Heute wird ihr Wasser vorwigend für landwirtschaftliche Beregnungsanlagen verwendet.
