Construction began this August (2022), to be completed in the fall of 2024.
"The 85-foot, six-story building — which will have an exterior of brick, limestone and glazed window wall systems — will house classrooms, research and instructional laboratories, museum space, faculty and graduate student offices and administrative support areas, according to a presentation by Mark Saville, of project engineer HRG, at a State College Planning Commission meeting in January." The building will be a new home for multiple academic programs in the social sciences which are currently located across different campus buildings. Units expected to occupy SWLAB include the Departments of Anthropology, Political Science, and Sociology and Criminology, the Schools of Public Policy and International Affairs, the McCourtney Institute for Democracy, and the Population Research Institute."
