The
Vickers Viscount was the first turboprop commercial airliner; it entered service in 1948 and was produced through 1963. According to an information plaque here, this example was manufactured in 1958 and served as a reserve aircraft for the President of Brazil; President Juscelino Kubitscheck de Oliveira flew on this aircraft several times. The aircraft remained with the Air Force until 1969, when it was sold as scrap to the City of Araçariguama and placed on display here. The aircraft is elevated slightly; the wheels are down and rest on concrete stands. A stairwell takes you up to the side door and you can look inside, but you cannot enter.
