Sally Hanchett Rivers was a resident of West Springfield and later Springfield. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Westfield State University. She had a career in the social services helping those with crisis situations. After retirement, she worked as a volunteer reading local news and information to the reading impaired. She died on died on August 12, 2018.
