The Blair County area had a combination of Native American tribes, known as the Iroquis Confederacy. They controlled trade in the area and maintained several trails connecting many areas. This tree is along one possible Native American trail, pointing toward an area known for springs.

This tree can be found by turning off of 865 at N 40 40.967 W 78 24.386 onto Fire Tower Road. There is a gate here, which is open to vehicles if the sign says "open to travel." The left turn off of Fire Tower Road, which is the likely Native American Trail, is found at N 40 41.805 W 78 23.119
