At first sight this may seem a strange place to have an information board about wildlife but at high tide the lake island is used by a variety of wading birds especially in winter.

At high tide the sea totally covers the beach and reaches as far as the sea wall on the esplanade.

The island forms a resting place for the wading birds that no longer have access to their feeding grounds on the beach.

The sign asks people to act responsibly and not disturb the birds whilst they are on the island.
