Burned down in 1809 in the French invasions, the Convent of Santa Clara, in Amarante, is today in Ruins, leaving part of the Chapel and the Renaissance Portal of entrance.
It is believed that the convent was built between the 16th and 18th centuries, housing the Poor Clare nuns who contributed so much to the success of the typical sweetness of Amarante to this day.
