The first church service in Collinsville was established by the Collins and Company in their offices in 1831. The Congregational Church of Collinsville was organized June 25, 1832. That building was destroyed by fire on January 18, 1857. The current building was erected almost immediately and dedicated on February 25, 1858. In 1922, the church was incorporated as the First Congregational Church in Collinsville. In 2019 the church changed its name to Christ Community Church in Collinsville. The church is affiliated with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference.

The Greek revival church has a portico entrance. The pediment above the entrance is supported by four fluted Doric columns. A clock is located in the center of the pediment. The central entrance is flanked by Doric piasters at the corners of the front of the church.

Rising above the gable roof is a square three-tiered tower. The lower tier short square tower. the middle tier is a belfry with louvered windows flanked by Doric columns. The upper tier has Doric columns flanking a blank panel and a crenelated roof line.

The sides of the building are five bays wide. The east side has five tall 5 by 10 pane double hung window. The west side has a single square 4 by 4 pane window above and addition the extends to the west. The back of the church has a brick chimney and an addition that extends to the south.
