Church clock on the west tower of St Baetholomew's church, Longnor.
The clock has a round black face with gilded roman numerals and hands, set within a molded masonry ring.
"The church is dedicated to St Bartholomew and in medieval times fairs were held in the churchyard, which brought prosperity to the village. The site on which the present church stands is probably the original one, but all that has survived from its early period is the Norman font, carved with crude heads and triangles.
Amongst the superstitions connected with the church is one where it was considered very bad luck for the clock to strike three while a funeral service was taking place. It was firmly believed by many that should this happen, another death would soon follow. So seriously was this belief held that it became the custom to stop the clock chiming if a service went on longer than expected."
