The Agawam Center Cemetery was established around 1774 at a time when Agawam was part of West Springfield. The cemetery is divided into sections by paved roads. The oldest section is tree shaded and is directly south of the entrance road. It contains the earliest headstones, approximately 25%of which are made of brownstone. The remaining are granite and marble. West of the oldest section are five more rectangular sections, divided buy paved roads, with newer stones. South of the exit road is a section that runs the length of the cemetery from the end of the oldest section to the back of the cemetery. A section at the west end of the cemetery runs from the south section to the northern boundary of the cemetery.

The area to the north of the entrance road was acquired most recently. It has been divided by three paved roads. The back two sections are nearly full and new graves are being added to the third easternmost section.

The cemetery has one famous internment, Hall of Fame hockey player Earl Walter Seibert. Who first played in the National Hockey League for the New York Rangers from 1931 to 1936. That team won the Stanley Cup in 1933. He then played for the Chicago Black Hawks from 1936 to 1945. That team won the Stanley Cup in 1938. He ended his career playing for the Detroit Red Wings from 1945 - 1946.
