Ordnance Survey trig pillar, constructed in 1949, on the wooded hill of Clochandighter just west of the Aberdeenshire town of Portlethen, and five miles to the south-west of Aberdeen.

This pillar lies on the summit area of Clochandighter, a low wooded hill of 166 metres situated two miles west of the Aberdeenshire commuter town of Portlethen and five miles to the south-west of the city of Aberdeen.
The woodland of the hill is on Forestry Commision land with the new A956 Fastlink road skirting the hill to the north. The pillar lies between a disused communications mast and a covered reservoir. It is in good condition and despite the surrounding woodland, there is a view northwards to the city of Aberdeen.
STEEPNESS: A gentle gradient.
TERRAIN: Grassy paths lead to the summit area.
ACCESSIBILITY: From the industrialised Schoolhill area leading from Portlethen from the east, the road reaches a locked gate on the south-east side of the wood. To the left a hole in the fence gains access to the path. On the north-west side there is room for parking just off to the right of the C30K road just before it crosses the A956 at the Newlands Flyover. From here a path also begins.
NAVIGATION: Both the paths from each access area head straight to the summit with the pillar lying between mast and reservoir on the cluttered summit.
DANGER: Care needed on the gap through the fence as it is barbed-wire.
