The plaque says, "The F-16 is numerically the most important fighter int the Western worlds inventory. Developed for the US Air Force, it embodied lessons learned over Vietnam and was designed as an inexpensive and small version of the F-15.

Since it possessed of the characteristics of contemporary Soviet fighters, the US Navy purchased 26 F-16s for use in the aggressor role at their famous "Top Gun" School at Miramar, CA. The Soviet-style camouflage on this particular aircraft was typical of the aggressors used at "Top Gun".

F-16s had a maximum gross weight of 25,000 lbs. and a top speed over Mach 2. They are used by many Western nations and will continue in service well into the next generation."
