A vending machine supplies visitors to Stanley Park and opportunity to feed the resident ducks and geese appropriate food. A sign below the machine give the reason why this is important. It is inscribed:

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

PLEASE DON'T FEED ME BREAD!
                    Why?

1. The bread rots and creates a surface algae,
which can kill fish and not allow underwater
plants to receive sun
2. Rotted bread can also create a mold that gives
ducks a lung disease
3. Eventually kills the pond community
4. Pollutes and ruins the chemistry of the water

All Proceeds Will Be Used
for the Purchase of Duck Feed
