[EN] Turku Pursiseura was founded on April 6, 1906 as the first Finnish-language sailing club in the area under the name Pursiseura Maininki. The sailing club got its current name in 1917.
In 1975, this fine bell, apparently made of brass, was donated to the club. It was donated by Wärtsilä shipbuilding company's Turku shipyard. The bell is displayed on the mast in the club's harbor. The bell is in good condition and works. I don't know if it is played, for example, when a sailing competition starts.
[FIN] Turun Pursiseura perustettiin 6. huhtikuuta 1906 paikkakunnan ensimmäiseksi suomenkieliseksi pursiseuraksi nimellä Pursiseura Maininki. Nykyisen nimensä pursiseura sai vuonna 1917.
Vuonna 1975 seuralle lahjoitettiin tämä hieno ilmeisesti messingistä tehty kello. Sen lahjoitti Wärtsilä laivateollisuus yhtiön Turun telakka. Kello on esillä mastossa seuran satamassa. Kello on hyvässä kunnossa ja toimiva. En tiedä soitetaanko sitä esimerkiksi kun purjehduskilpailu alkaa.
